Confession time: I’m not really big into hair products. Other than shampoo, conditioner and dry shampoo, honestly most days it takes some effort for me to remember to use any sort of styling products on my hair. There is one exception to this, however, and it’s also my longest-used product of all time.
Allow me to introduce you to Silk Therapy from Biosilk. As the name suggests, this is a super silky, lightweight hair product that provides softness, smoothness and shine.
I started using this back in elementary school – a testament to how good this clearly is. I dye my hair a lot, it’s been bleached many times, and I blow dry it (usually without a heat protectant spray – I’m the worst), yet I’m always a bit surprised at how non-damaged it is. I can only attribute the general good condition my hair is in to this product. It’s the one constant that I’ve used on my hair over the years, and even when my hair should theoretically be in terrible condition after frequent dye jobs, it’s just always….soft. And silky. It’s kind of a miracle! In fact, I spent a few weeks at my parents’ house after my recent surgeries and didn’t use Silk Therapy for about 5-6 weeks, and my hair actually did feel more coarse and dry. After a few weeks of re-incorporating it back into my life – my hair is back to normal!
I use about a nickel-sized drop of Silk Therapy on my wet, freshly-washed hair before blow-drying. I have a huge fear of having limp, weighed-down hair from styling products because my hair is really fine, but this never weighs it down. You can also use it on dry hair to revive it a bit and provide some added shine. Bonus: you can also use this on your skin! I rub any excess onto my arms after applying to my hair. It’s quite lightweight and has a soft, gentle scent.
Biosilk is a salon brand, but they actually started selling it at Shopper’s Drug Mart a few years ago, and sometimes I even see it at Winners, so keep your eyes out! Also, this stuff lasts literally forever – I think I’ve had my current bottle for about two years and it’s only just over half empty.
